Ms. Prema, Corneal Transplant on May 21, 2024
Anudaan - "Making Transplants Affordable" team at MOHAN Foundation received an urgent email from ICARE Eye Hospital and Post Graduate Institute in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It requested financial support for 28-year-old Noida resident Prema to have an emergency corneal transplant.
Prema is a single mother to her daughter and works as a domestic servant. Eye problems forced her to resign from her position. Prema's elderly mother started doing odd jobs to help pay for the medical care and support the family.
Prema first experienced visual issues fifteen years ago. She had previously had keratoplasty surgery, which helped her somewhat. She attended a nearby clinic in 2023 after suffering an eye injury, but her condition worsened, and she was unable to get better. After that, she was brought to ICARE Eye Hospital, where a comprehensive examination revealed that she needed corneal transplantation surgery due to corneal graft melt. Prema was informed by specialists at ICARE Eye Hospital about the assistance provided by the MOHAN Foundation's Anudaan program, who recognized her financial struggles. The transplant was carried out successfully on May 21, 2024, thanks to the contribution of Rs. 15,000 made by the Anudaan team.
