  • Ms Rehka Kumar

The annual contributions made by Ms. Rekha Kumar is in loving memory of her husband, Col (Retd) Rajendra Kumar who passed away in 2008 after battling Motor Neurone Disease. As his condition deteriorated, he would often speak about organ donation. However, at that time, the systems were not as well developed to facilitate deceased organ donation in the way they are today. Despite these limitations, both his corneas were donated, restoring sight to two individuals — a legacy of generosity that continues to shine. Ms. Rekha Kumar is a strong believer in the work of MOHAN Foundation, a commitment that is also deeply personal, as her daughter has been associated with the Foundation for over 15 years.

Our partnership with MOHAN Foundation through the Anudaan initiative — Making Transplants Affordable — reflects the values we cherish at Oberoi International School, JVLR: compassion, social responsibility, and the belief that every life matters. Through our annual Navratri Utsav fundraiser, initiated by Ms. Riyaa Palan (IBDP), our community has seen how collective action can bring hope and help ensure that financial hardship does not stand in the way of life-saving organ transplants. We are proud to support this important cause and nurture compassionate global citizens in the process.
