Mr. Veerendra, Corneal Transplant on October 10, 2024

On September 27, 2024, MOHAN Foundation's 'Anudaan - Making Transplants Affordable' team received an email from ICARE Eye Hospital and Post Graduate Institute in Noida, Uttar Pradesh requesting financial aid for Mr. Veerendra, hailing from Chaudera village, Uttar Pradesh. He was diagnosed with Aphakic bullous keratopathy of right eye and corneal scar and required an immediate corneal transplant.

Mr. Veerendra, 55 hails from a modest background. Due to an eye condition, he was forced to leave his job as a daily wage labourer, where he was earning Rs. 400 a day. His spouse is a homemaker.

It all began when during an eye checkup camp hosted by ICARE Eye Hospital, Mr. Veerendra received an advice to visit the hospital for additional assessment. Later upon the examination he was diagnosed with a corneal scar and Aphakic bullous keratopathy of the right eye and was recommended for the corneal transplant surgery. Ater hearing about their financial difficulties, the physicians at ICARE Eye Hospital informed them about the support offered by the MOHAN Foundation's Anudaan program. The Anudaan team contributed Rs. 15,000 towards the transplant which was successfully performed on October 10, 2024.
