Mr. Salman Sikandar Pinjari, Kidney Transplant on May 02, 2024

The Anudaan - "Making Transplants Affordable" team at MOHAN Foundation got an urgent email from Apollo Hospital, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, requesting financial assistance for Salman Sikandar Pinjari, a 26-year-old Jalgaon, Maharashtra resident, to undergo an emergency kidney transplant.

Salman used to work as an IT professional in a company but was forced to resign due to his health condition. Coming from an agricultural family, they found themselves in an extremely difficult situation to arrange Rs. 7 lakhs for the transplant. In December 2023, Salman began to experience frequent vomiting, a few tests later, it was discovered that Salman had high creatine level and very low haemoglobin level.

He was immediately put into a dialysis treatment for 3-4 months. He was then, referred to Apollo Hospital, Navi Mumbai for the kidney transplant. Salman's father was found to be an ideal match for his son. But, the family's biggest challenge was the enormous sum needed to pay for the transplant.

Following conversations with Apollo Hospital's physicians, the family was notified about MOHAN Foundation's Anudaan initiative. They felt hopeful after learning this. With the support from MOHAN Foundation, few other NGOs and the hospital's concession on transplant cost, Mr. Salman Sikandar Pinjari successfully underwent a renal transplant on May 02, 2024. Anudaan sanctioned Rs 1 lakh towards his surgery.

“Since, I am from a farming family, it was very difficult for us to pay for the enormous expense for my transplant with our modest income but MOHAN Foundation gave us hope and I could undergo this life-saving transplant.
