Mr. Muneer Pasha, Liver Transplant on January 22, 2024
MOHAN Foundation's Anudaan - 'Making Transplants Affordable' team received an urgent email from Aster CMI hospital, Bengaluru requesting financial aid for Mr. Muneer Pasha’s critical liver transplant. Muneer, aged 39, hailing from Vijayapura, Devanahalli Taluk, Bengaluru, Karnataka, was battling end stage liver disease compounded with ascites and sarcopenia, necessitating an immediate intervention.
Coming from a financially disadvantaged background, Muneer and his brothers eke out a living working in a garment shop, earning a modest income of Rs 15000. The daunting prospect of covering a staggering cost of Rs. 18 lakhs for Muneer’s Liver transplant loomed large over their heads.
In 2021, Muneer noticed swelling in his legs, prompting a visit to a local clinic where the doctors identified low platelet levels and prescribed medicines. As his condition worsened with recurrent fever and blood vomits, he was rushed to Ramaiah hospital where he received the alarmin diagnosis of liver disease. Seeking a second opinion, he was brought to Aster CMI Hospital, Bengaluru, where subsequent tests confirmed end-stage liver disease, necessitating immediate transplantation. Fortunately, Muneer’s brother emerged as a perfect match for donation.
Struggling to raise the requisite sum, the doctors at Aster CMI Hospital apprised them of MOHAN Foundation's Anudaan program. With the invaluable support of Anudaan and few other charitable organisations, Muneer underwent a successful liver transplant on January 22, 2024. Anudaan sanctioned Rs. 2.5 lakhs for the transplant.
"MOHAN Foundation has been a guardian angel in saving my brother’s life. We will be obliged to your foundation for a lifetime. In future, I will surely help your foundation financially to support poor patient’s transplant" - Tabassum (Sister of Muneer Pasha)
