Mr. Mahmad Ayub Jineri, Kidney Transplant on April 23, 2024
MOHAN Foundation's Anudaan - 'Making Transplants Affordable' team received an urgent email from Jehangir hospital, Pune requesting financial aid for an emergency kidney transplant for Mahmad Ayub Jineri’s. Mahmad, aged 37, hailing from Osmanabad, Maharashtra, was battling chronic kidney disease, necessitating an immediate intervention.
Mahmad is a mechanic by trade, but his health problems forced him to resign. The family was put in a very tough situation when the sole provider for the family was given a life-threatening diagnosis. In order to maintain the household and oversee his son's medical care, his father was forced to go to work. Nevertheless, the family's low income made it extremely difficult for them to pay the enormous expense of Rs. 8 lakhs for the transplant.
In 2022, Mahmad started to experience swelling in his hands and limbs. He was sent to Ruby Hall Clinic urgently as his condition deteriorated due to frequent vomiting, and it was then that he was diagnosed with end-stage renal illness. He was brought to Raja Ram Hospital in Hyderabad for a second opinion, where medical professionals suggested a kidney transplant as a potentially life-saving measure. He received twice-weekly dialysis at Ashwini Hospital in Solapur for two years before being referred to Jehangir Hospital in Pune for a kidney transplant due to a decline in his condition. After undergoing several tests, Mahmad’s father discovered that he was a perfect match to donate a kidney to save his child's life.
The enormous expense of the transplant was beyond the family's means. At this point, medical professionals at Jehangir Hospital notified them of the Anudaan program of the MOHAN Foundation. On April 23, 2024, Mahmad had a successful kidney transplant thanks to the vital help of Anudaan and a few other nonprofit organizations. Anudaan approved a transplant cost of Rs. 1 lakh.
“We are so grateful for your thoughtful donation! There are no words to describe how grateful we are at this moment. Apart from your kind donation, you had also respectfully asked the hospital administration to lower the cost of the procedure and had the estimate changed to Rs. 8 lakhs. Additionally, you demonstrated that the family is not alone by working directly with the transplant coordinator.” - Mr. Ayub Mubarak Jineri - Father
