Mr. Akshay Kiran Tamaychikar, Heart Transplant on December 26, 2023

On May 03, 2023, MOHAN Foundation's 'Anudaan- Making Transplants Affordable' team received an email from Jupiter Hospital, Thane requesting financial aid for Mr. Akshay Kiran Tamaychikar, hailing from Ambernath, Maharashtra. He had been diagnosed with ischemic cardiomyopathy with heart failure and required an immediate heart transplant.

Akshay, aged 28 years, belongs to Ambernath, Maharashtra. His elder brothers are breadwinners of the family. It was very tough for them to pay the huge cost i.e., Rs. 22.5 Lakh for Akshay's heart transplant.

In December 2021 Akshay had severe chest pain. He was taken to local hospital in Dombivli and was diagnosed with a heart attack. In the next 6 months he had three major heart attacks. His condition kept deteriorating and in August 2022, he was diagnosed with prolonged case of heart failure. Eventually his heart functioning came down to 10% and doctors recommended a heart transplant as a life-saving option. Akshay was then referred to Jupiter Hospital, Thane for heart transplantation. He was then registered on the deceased donation waiting list.

The family discussed their economic challenges with the doctors at Jupiter hospital. They were then informed about MOHAN Foundation's Anudaan. With support from Anudaan and few other NGOs, Akshay successfully underwent a heart transplant on December 26, 2023. MOHAN Foundation sanctioned Rs. 2,00,000 for his heart transplant.

"Sincere thanks to MOHAN Foundation's Anudaan team for saving my brother's life with financial support." - Mr. Vivek Tamaychikar, Brother
