Mast. Pranav Gorakhnath Domale, Liver Transplant on January 22, 2024

On September 26, 2023, MOHAN Foundation's helpline team received a call from Mr. Gorakhnath Domale requesting financial aid for his son’s liver transplant, suffering with Allagile Syndrome and needed an urgent liver transplant.

Mast. Pranav Gorakhnath Domale, age 2.9 years, hails from Aurangabad, Maharashtra. He belongs to a lower middle-class family. His father works as a money loader in the ATM and earns a meagre salary, it was very hard for the family to pay the huge cost of the liver transplant, which was estimated around Rs. 15 lakhs.

Pranav's parents were very happy after the birth of their son. However, after 5 months of his birth, the child began to fall sick. Gradually his eyes began turning yellow. Initially Pranav, was diagnosed with Jaundice and underwent the necessary treatment. His health kept on deteriorating. He was later taken to KEM Hospital, Pune, where he underwent liver biopsy and genetic test and was given a diagnosis of Allagile Syndrome. "I never thought fate could be so cruel to anyone. Every day was a struggle for him"-shared the father. He was then referred to Jupiter Hospital for liver transplantation.

Pranav's mother found that she was a suitable donor for her son after she underwent several tests. The estimated cost for the transplant was Rs. 15 lakhs. The parents were bewildered as to how they would arrange this huge amount. This is when Mr. Gorakhnath Domale (Pranav’s father) came across MOHAN Foundation and reached out to the doctors of Jupiter Hospital to help the family to avail the financial aid. With the support from MOHAN Foundation, few other NGOs and the hospital's concession on transplant cost, Pranav successfully underwent a Liver transplant on January 22, 2024. Anudaan sanctioned Rs 2 lakhs for his transplant.

“It means a lot to me and I am so happy now to see that my son is doing well after so much pain and suffering. Today my son is alive because of your Foundation’s generosity. God bless everyone who is working for this noble cause” - Mr. Gorakhnath Domale (Pranav’s father)
