Mast. Aarav Pankaj Dhameliya, Liver Transplant on September 29, 2024
MOHAN Foundation's Anudaan - 'Making Transplants Affordable' team received an email from Nanavati MAX Super Specialty Hospital, Mumbai, Maharashtra requesting financial aid for Mast. Aarav Pankaj Dhameliya liver transplant, suffering with Criggler Najjar Syndrome type -1 and requiring an urgent liver transplant.
One year old Aarav Pankaj Dhameliya, hails from Surat, Gujarat from a poor household. His father works as a salesman at garment shop and is the only sole provider in the family, getting a meagre salary ill equipped to afford a transplant. Aarav's health began to deteriorate shortly after he was born. His abdomen swelled, and his eyes took on a yellow hue, signalling the onset of jaundice.
Despite receiving medication that initially alleviated his symptoms, they soon resurfaced, worsening his condition. He was rushed to Nanavati Max Super Specialty Hospital, Mumbai where after a series of tests later his parents were informed that he had a rare inherited disorder. He was then registered on the deceased donation waiting list.
The family discussed their economic challenges with the doctors at Nanavati Max hospital. They were then informed about MOHAN Foundation's Anudaan. With support from Anudaan and few other NGOs, Aarav successfully underwent a liver transplant on September 29, 2024. MOHAN Foundation sanctioned Rs. 2.5 lakhs for his liver transplant.
"I am deeply impressed by the incredible work your foundation is doing – you truly came to our rescue like guardian angels. I witnessed the heartbreaking loss of an infant who passed away before my eyes because the funds for a life-saving transplant were unavailable. We are forever grateful that our son received his transplant in time, with your organisation covering the necessary expenses. Please continue your noble mission of saving lives."- Mr. Pankaj Dhameliya, father
