Mansi Sanjay Sonar, Kidney Transplant on May 14, 2024
The “Anudaan- Making Transplants Affordable” team of the MOHAN Foundation got an email on April 10, 2024, from Apollo Hospital in Nashik, requesting financial assistance for Ms. Mansi Sanjay Sonar, who is from Nashik, Maharashtra. She needed a kidney transplant after being diagnosed with chronic kidney disease stage-5.
21-year-old Mansi comes from a middle-class household. Her father works as a clerical employee in a private company, and her mother is a salesperson, making it extremely difficult for her parents to afford the kidney transplant costing Rs. 8 lakhs.
In August 2023, some discomfort in her legs and a subsequent blood test at a local hospital revealed that she had high creatine level and was immediately started on dialysis. She was then, referred to Apollo Hospital, Nashik for a kidney transplant and the mother was found to be a suitable donor.
The physicians at Apollo Hospital, who were helping the family raise funds for the transplant informed them about MOHAN Foundation’s Anudaan initiative. On May 14, 2024, Mansi got a successful kidney transplant thanks to the hospital’s discounted cost, significant support of Anudaan and a few other philanthropic organizations. Anudaan approved a transplant cost of Rs. 1 lakh.
Both Mansi and her mother have recovered and slowly started living a normal life.
“After a protracted battle, she has been gifted a new lease of life, in which she can laugh, study and achieve her dreams. This is a moment where expressing gratitude is beyond words. The presence and support of the MOHAN Foundation has had a significant impact.”- Ms. Ranjita Sonar, Mother
