For most children, the world is full of colours, movement, and discovery. But for 12-year-old Rabiya, much of her childhood was shaped by darkness and uncertainty.
Born into a family of modest means in a village in Bihar, Rabiya Khatun is the youngest of six siblings. Her father, a daily wage labourer earning Rs. 12,000 per month, works far from home in Haryana to support the family. Despite financial hardships, her parents always dreamed of giving their children a better future.
That dream was shaken in 2016 when two-year-old Rabiya accidentally fell from the terrace of her home, suffering a severe eye injury. Initial treatment at a local hospital could not address the extent of the damage. Years later, she was referred to the Ahooja Eye and Dental Institute, Gurugram, Haryana, where she underwent surgery in 2022, but her vision could not be restored.
For the family, hope seemed distant until the support of MOHAN Foundation made the impossible possible.
On January 26, 2026, Rabiya underwent a corneal transplant surgery provided completely free of cost due to the financial support from MOHAN Foundation. The procedure was successful, giving her a second chance at sight and a future filled with opportunities that once seemed out of reach.“I keep telling everyone about the help we received from MOHAN Foundation.
