Mrs. Purti Rajkumar Sangwani

Where it Began

Mrs. Purti Rajkumar Sangwani was a 31-year-old woman from Washim, Maharashtra, whose life was filled with joy and hope as she welcomed her baby girl into the world in July 2026. As a new mother, she had just begun the beautiful journey of motherhood, dreaming of watching her little one grow, laugh, and take her first steps.

But destiny had other plans. Shortly after delivering her baby on July 19, 2026, Purti developed Acute Liver Failure (ALF), a sudden and life-threatening condition that required an urgent liver transplant to save her life. What should have been a time of celebration for the family turned into days of fear and uncertainty as they grappled with the gravity of her condition.

Standing firmly by her side, her husband did not hesitate for a moment — he came forward to donate a part of his liver to save his wife, the mother of their newborn child. Purti underwent the liver transplant on July 27, 2026, at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Nagpur.

As per the Anudaan application submitted by the hospital, the estimated cost of the transplant and treatment was ₹45,00,000. However, the complexity of her condition meant the final hospital bill amounted to a staggering ₹67,89,534 — an amount far beyond what any ordinary family could bear. Recognising the family’s financial distress during this critical time, Anudaan – Making Transplants Affordable, an initiative of MOHAN Foundation, extended support of ₹2 lakh towards her treatment.
