On May 09, 2022, MOHAN Foundation’s Anudaan- ‘Making Transplants Affordable’ team received an email from SwaNetra Eye Hospital, Jaipur, Rajasthan requesting financial aid for Mr Sugar Singh’s corneal transplant.
Mr. Sugar Singh, age 53 belongs to Karauli, Rajasthan. He is a farmer and the sole earner in the family. He works on his small agricultural land, which is the main source of income for his family. Due to poor economic situation, he could not afford to pay for his eye treatment and corneal transplant. He had been suffering from a corneal eye condition called cataracts. His right eye cataracts had resulted in serious sight loss and had affected his ability to work and be independent. The family informed SwaNetra team that they could not afford to pay for the corneal transplant. SwaNetra team approached Anudaan team for financial aid for supporting Mr Sugar Singh’s transplant.
Anudaan team contributed Rs. 20,000 towards the transplant which was successfully performed on June 01, 2022. This support was provided from a grant received from Century Plyboards India Limited.
