Sourabh Ghodageri, a 26-year-old from Bagalkot, Karnataka, comes from a humble family consisting of his parents and siblings. His mother works as a teacher, while his father is a farmer.
Sourabh has faced significant health challenges since childhood. He has only 10% vision and was diagnosed with Decompensated Chronic Liver Disease (NASH-related) along with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus and Lawrence Moon Biedl Syndrome at Aster CMI Hospital, Bengaluru, Karnataka.
Doctors at Aster Hospital advised that a liver transplant was the only life-saving option for Sourabh. Fortunately, his mother was found to be an ideal donor match. However, the estimated cost of the transplant—approximately ₹18 lakhs—posed an enormous financial challenge for the family due to the ongoing medical expenses.
At this critical moment, the dedicated team at Aster Hospital stepped in to support the family in raising funds. Their appeal touched many compassionate hearts. The MOHAN Foundation’s Anudaan initiative extended crucial support by contributing ₹1.5 lakhs toward the transplant and also helped the family secure a concession rate for the procedure from the hospital. On July 6, 2024, Sourabh Ghodageri successfully underwent a liver transplant, marking a life-saving milestone in his journey and giving him a renewed chance at life.
