On June 28, 2024, MOHAN Foundation’s Anudaan – ‘Making Transplants Affordable’ team received an email from Niramaya Charitable Trust (Ahooja Eye and Dental institute), Gurugram, Haryana requesting financial aid for Mr. Shiv Kumar’s corneal transplant.
Mr. Shiv Kumar, age 21 belongs to Uttar Pradesh. Coming from a financially disadvantaged background, Shiv and his brother eke out a living working as a daily wage labourer, earning a modest income.
It all started a year ago when Shiv sustained an eye injury. He received an initial treatment at Ahooja Hospital, but had no relief. After a comprehensive examination, it was discovered that Shiv had vascularized corneal opacity in his right eye and that his vision may be restored with a corneal transplant. After hearing about their financial difficulties, the physicians at Ahooja Hospital informed them about the support offered by the MOHAN Foundation’s Anudaan program. The Anudaan team contributed Rs. 20,000 towards the transplant which was successfully performed on June 28, 2024.
