Mr. Rakesh Kothari, 52, from Bhilwara district in Rajasthan, had spent years building a yarn trading business to support his family, his parents and his wife all depended on him. That stability was shaken when he was diagnosed with rheumatic heart disease, a condition that gradually weakened his heart until doctors said a transplant was his only hope of survival.
As the sole breadwinner, the diagnosis brought not just fear for his health but deep worry about how the family would cope, both emotionally and financially. The hospital estimated the transplant would cost close to ₹70 lakh, a figure far beyond what the family could arrange on their own.
On July 18, 2026, Mr. Kothari underwent the heart transplant at MGM Healthcare, Chennai, giving him a renewed chance at life.
At this critical juncture, Anudaan – Making Transplants Affordable, an initiative of MOHAN Foundation, stepped in with financial support of approximately ₹6 lakh (equivalent to $7,000), extended through MOHAN USA, helping ease the financial pressure on the family.
Sharing his experience, Mr. Rakesh’s son said:
“My father’s treatment exhausted our entire savings, leaving us in a deeply difficult and helpless situation. It was at this critical juncture that MOHAN Foundation extended its support, making a significant difference throughout the course of the treatment. On behalf of my family, I extend our sincere gratitude to MOHAN Foundation for standing by us”
