Mr. Islam

Where it Began

On January 20, 2024, MOHAN Foundation’s Anudaan – ‘Making Transplants Affordable’ team received an email from Niramaya Charitable Trust (Ahooja Eye and Dental institute), Gurugram, Haryana requesting financial aid for Md. Islam’s corneal transplant.

Md. Islam, age 61 belongs to Ghasola village, Bhiwani district, Haryana. He is working as a tailor and earns a meagre income.

Md. Islam’s eye complications started in December 2023 when one day while he was travelling, he got an insect in his eyes. When the pain did not subside, he went to Indrani hospital. Upon reaching there he came to know he was suffering from eye infection. After getting medication for few days, he was taken to Niramaya Charitable Trust (Ahooja eye and dental institute) for further treatment where a corneal transplant was recommended. Following a discussion about their financial struggle, the doctors at Ahooja hospital enlightened them about the assistance provided by MOHAN Foundation’s Anudaan program. Anudaan team contributed Rs. 20,000 towards the transplant. He successfully underwent Keratoplasty left eye surgery on January 24, 2024.

“May Allah bless the generous people who are working for this noble cause. I will always be obliged to MOHAN Foundation for giving me another chance to see the world.” – Md. Islam
