In a small village in Kerala, Mr. Devan K S, a 40-year-old farmer, lived with his wife, Mrs. Nimisha, and their two children who study in middle school. He was the only earning member of the family and worked hard in his fields to support their daily needs and education.
In 2023, Devan was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Over the past year, he has been on regular dialysis and has been unable to work. With no steady income, the family struggled to manage household expenses and medical costs. Some of his friends supported them financially during this difficult time.
Doctors advised a kidney transplant as the only long-term solution. The estimated cost of the transplant was ₹6,05,000, which was far beyond the family’s means. Meitra Hospital, Calicut, Kerala, came forward to help the family and applied to Anudaan for financial support on their behalf.
In a loving and brave decision, his wife, Mrs. Nimisha, came forward to donate her kidney to save his life. Mr. Devan underwent a kidney transplant at Meitra Hospital on April 22, 2026.
Anudaan – Making Transplants Affordable, an initiative of MOHAN Foundation, supported him with ₹2 lakhs towards the transplant cost. This timely help reduced their financial burden and gave the family new hope.
Expressing his gratitude, Mr. Devan said:
“When life tested us the hardest, my wife chose to give me a second chance at life by donating her kidney. Today, life has truly given me a second chance, and with the support of MOHAN Foundation, it became possible. On behalf of myself and my family, we sincerely thank MOHAN Foundation for their support and kindness.”
