Miss Bojamma B.B.

liver transplant

Where it Began

Miss Bojamma B.B. is a 6-year-old child from Kodagu, Karnataka, who was diagnosed with liver failure. Doctors advised an urgent liver transplant as the only treatment that could save her life.

Bojamma comes from a financially struggling family. Her father is a farmer and the sole earning member of the family. To save his daughter’s life, he came forward to donate a part of his liver. The estimated cost of the liver transplant at Aster CMI Hospital, Bengaluru, was ₹16 lakh, which was far beyond the family’s financial capacity.

Bojamma successfully underwent the liver transplant on May 18, 2026.

The final hospital bill amounted to approximately ₹13.5 lakh, which was lower than the estimated cost. Recognising the family’s financial need, Anudaan – Making Transplants Affordable, an initiative of MOHAN Foundation, approved financial assistance of ₹3 lakh towards the transplant.

The support from Anudaan helped reduce the family’s financial burden and allowed them to focus on Bojamma’s recovery and post-transplant care.

Expressing his gratitude, Bojamma’s father, Mr. Bhagat Biddaiah, said:

“Our family’s financial condition is not good, and it was very difficult for us to arrange money for our daughter’s treatment. We received support from different sources, and MOHAN Foundation was one of them. Their timely financial assistance was a great help to us. I sincerely thank everyone who came forward to support my daughter’s liver transplant and gave her a new chance at life.”
