Rupam’s ordeal began when he was just two months old. He was diagnosed with biliary atresia, a rare and life-threatening liver condition. Despite undergoing the Kasai surgery, his health did not improve. As years passed, his condition worsened, and doctors confirmed that only a liver transplant could save his life. Later, he was diagnosed with Extrahepatic Biliary Atresia with Cirrhosis, making the transplant even more urgent.
For Rupam’s father, a farmer and the sole breadwinner of a family of five, the thought of arranging Rs. 15 lakhs for the surgery seemed impossible. The family was battling despair, fearing they might lose their child to a disease they could not afford to fight.
But hope arrived in the form of kindness and compassion. The dedicated team at New Era Hospital & Research Institute, Nagpur, came forward to help arrange the funds needed for Rupam’s surgery. Their plea touched many hearts — including MOHAN Foundation’s Anudaan initiative. On June 26, 2025, Rupam underwent a successful liver transplant, with his mother bravely stepping forward as the donor. The support of MOHAN Foundation, which sanctioned Rs. 2,50,000 towards his transplant, played a vital role in making this miracle possible. Today, Rupam has a brighter future ahead of him.
“I work hard in the fields every day, but no amount of effort could have given me the means to save my son’s life. The support we received gave Rupam a second chance, something I could never have imagined. We are deeply grateful to MOHAN Foundation.”- Mr. Sanjay Hatwar, Father
