Mast. Aryan Anil Jagtap

Where it Began

MOHAN Foundation’s Anudaan – ‘Making Transplants Affordable’ team received an email from Sahyadri hospital, Pune requesting financial aid for Master Aryan’s liver transplant, who was suffering with Chronic Liver disease and needed an urgent liver transplant.

Aryan, aged 4 years, hails from Solapur, Maharashtra. He belongs to an extremely impoverished household. His father makes a living by farming and as a daily wage labourer, raising Rs. 12.5 lakhs for his son’s life-saving transplant was extremely challenging.

Aryan’s illness began when he was just a few months old; he used to constantly fall sick and was shown to various doctors and several hospitals. One day, while playing with his sibling, he was hit, resulting in profuse bleeding. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was diagnosed with a liver related ailment where he underwent treatment for a year.

He was subsequently referred to Sahyadri Hospital in Pune for advanced treatment, where physicians revealed that he needed an immediate liver transplant to live a healthy life.

“We never expected such an unfortunate thing to happen to us, nothing less than a nightmare.” – Komal Anil Jagtap, mother.

Following a few tests, mother was found to be a matching donor for her child. Physicians at Sahyadri Hospital assisted the family in raising finances for the child, with support from Anudaan and a few other NGOs, Master. Aryan had a successful liver transplant on May 24, 2024. MOHAN Foundation sanctioned Rs. 2,00,000 for his liver transplant.

“When the doctors at the hospital informed me of the expense of the transplant, I felt helpless but they assured me that they would raise the funds for my child. They assisted me in applying to MOHAN Foundation, for which I am really grateful. Foundations like yours helped my child to undergo the transplant at free of cost”-Anil Jagtap, father.
