In a small village in Manipur, 18-year-old Arun Kumar lived with his parents and elder brother. The family faced significant financial challenges, as his father, a construction worker, was the sole earning member, while his mother managed the household.
In 2023, Arun was diagnosed with Chronic-Kidney-Disease (CKD). Over the following years, he underwent regular dialysis, which severely affected his health and prevented him from continuing his studies. The prolonged treatment placed an immense financial burden on the family, making it increasingly difficult for them to meet both medical and household expenses.
Doctors eventually advised that a kidney transplant was the only long-term solution for Arun’s survival and recovery. However, the estimated transplant cost of ₹8,00,000 was far beyond the family’s financial capacity. Recognizing their situation, Shija Hospital, Imphal, Manipur, extended support and approached Anudaan – Making Transplants Affordable, an initiative of MOHAN Foundation, seeking financial assistance on Arun’s behalf.
In a courageous and selfless act of love, Arun’s mother came forward to donate one of her kidneys to save her son’s life. Arun successfully underwent a kidney transplant at Shija Hospital on May 28, 2026.
To support the family during this critical time, Anudaan – Making Transplants Affordable provided ₹1 lakh towards the transplant expenses. This timely financial assistance significantly reduced the burden on the family and enabled them to focus on Arun’s treatment and recovery with renewed hope.
Expressing his gratitude, Arun shared:
“I am extremely grateful and blessed that my transplant surgery and recovery could happen smoothly. The financial assistance played a crucial role in making my transplant possible. I sincerely thank MOHAN Foundation for their timely support and for giving me a second chance at life.”
Today, Arun is recovering well and looking forward to resuming his education and rebuilding his future. His journey stands as a powerful example of a mother’s selfless love, the importance of organ donation, and the life-changing impact of timely financial support.
