For a mother, watching her child fight for his life is the hardest thing to bear. Anmol’s mother had looked forward to enjoying every little joy of his childhood: his first steps, his first words. But before Anmol, a 1-year-old from Surat, Gujarat, could take those first steps, he was diagnosed with a serious liver condition. Doctors advised that a liver transplant was his only chance of survival. Without a second thought, his mother decided that she would be the one to save him.
Anmol’s family lives on a modest income. His father works in a small shop and is the sole earning member of the household, while his mother looks after the home and their elder daughter, who is 4.5 years old. Even as she cared for her family, she came forward to donate a part of her liver to her youngest child.
The estimated cost of the liver transplant at Gleneagles Hospital, Parel, Mumbai, was ₹16.5 lakh, which was far beyond what the family could afford. Anmol successfully underwent the liver transplant on August 13, 2026.
The final hospital bill amounted to ₹16,36,150. Recognising the family’s circumstances, Anudaan – Making Transplants Affordable, an initiative of MOHAN Foundation, approved financial assistance of ₹3 lakh towards the transplant.
This support eased the family’s financial burden and helped them manage the cost of Anmol’s transplant and treatment.
Expressing his gratitude, Anmol’s father, Mr. Umesh Maurya, said:
“We are so thankful to MOHAN Foundation for helping us in this difficult time. Because of this help, the life of our child was saved, and he is with us today.”
